What this policy covers

CytoChron (Timur Khusyainov) is a lab-organization tool for researchers to track cell cultures, protocols, and experimental history. This policy describes what account and workspace data CytoChron stores, why, and how you can have it deleted.

Account information

To create an account we store your email address and an authentication credential. Your password is never stored in readable form: it is handled by our authentication provider, Supabase, using industry-standard hashing. We use a session cookie to keep you signed in between visits.

Workspace and research data

Everything you enter to use CytoChron is stored so the product can work: projects, experiments and cultures with their descriptions and current-state values (confluency, medium, vessel, passage number, and similar), protocol templates and applied schedules, the history of completed and skipped actions, and Cell Bank records such as storage location labels, vial records, freeze and thaw information, and the lineage between cultures and vials.

Personal and shared workspaces

Data in your Personal workspace is private to you. Data in a shared workspace is visible to that workspace's members according to their role (Owner, Editor, or Viewer). Members can see the display name you choose, which is used to show who recorded or changed something. When an Owner invites someone, the invited email address is stored so the invitation can be matched to the right account.

Service providers

We use Supabase (database, authentication, and hosting infrastructure) and Vercel (application hosting) to run CytoChron. These providers process data on our behalf to operate the service; they do not use it for their own independent purposes. We do not sell your data to anyone, for any purpose.

Error and diagnostic data

If CytoChron encounters an unexpected technical error, it may record the error's type, message, and the page you were on, so we can fix the problem. This diagnostic data never includes your password or session token, and is not designed to include, and in the overwhelming majority of cases will not include, the research content (notes, results, protocol details) you've entered.

Why we process this data

Solely to provide the CytoChron service to you: authenticating your account, storing and displaying your workspace data, and diagnosing technical problems.

Retention and deletion

We retain your account and workspace data for as long as your account exists. You can permanently delete your account at any time. See Account if you're signed in, or contact us below. Deleting your account:

• deletes your Personal workspace and everything in it;
• deletes any shared workspace where you are the only member, and everything in it;
• keeps shared workspaces that have other members, including the research data in them, and removes your membership and your name from what you recorded there.

If you are the only Owner of a shared workspace that still has other members, you need to make another member an Owner before you can delete your account.
